Examples of safe riding areas: flat and gravel-free areas, such as a playground or public square.

SKATE SAFELY

Always wear protective equipment—helmet, wrist, elbow, and knee pads, plus a reflective device—and follow all safety rules and regulations of local authorities.

Check your skates

Always make the following checks before skating. Self-locking nuts and other self-locking fixings may lose their effectiveness over time:

  • Nuts and axles: check regularly. They can become loose after a while, in which case they should be tightened. They can also become worn and no longer tighten properly, in which case they should be replaced.
  • Check that the screws are tightened properly, and fasten the skates properly.
  • Check that the bearings are clean and not damaged.
  • Ensure that the chassis is in the correct position and securely fixed.
  • Check that the brake pad is not excessively worn.
  • Check wheels for wear before each use. They must be replaced if they show signs of excessive wear.

Starting/braking

  • Simply push off with one foot and then the other to start moving forward. The skates do not have a starting aid device.
  • Learn to brake before moving. The distance required for braking depends on your skill, speed, and the conditions of the surface you are skating on.
  • Inline mode: To brake, lean forward slightly from the waist up and bring forward the foot doing the braking. Press on your heel and the brake will stop you. Bend your knee slightly to facilitate braking.
  • Quad mode: To brake, lean forward slightly from the waist up and bring forward the foot doing the braking. Press on your toes and the brake will stop you. Bend your knee slightly to facilitate braking.
  • Practice braking on flat surfaces before skating on slopes. A worn brake pad increases the distance required for braking. Check the brake pads and replace them if necessary.
  • The instructions for changing the brake pad are in the MAINTENANCE section of this manual.

Converting wheels

GLOBBER GO SKATES 2in1 require assembly by a qualified adult to convert from inline mode to quad mode.

To transform the skates

  1. Pull the rear lever and lift the heel of the skate.
  2. Remove the wheel module.
  3. Insert the other wheel module from the front.
  4. Make sure the wheel module is securely fixed.
  5. Repeat the operation to change mode again.

Size adjustment

Parents can adjust the skate to fit their child's foot exactly. It is possible to lengthen or shorten the shell under the ball of the foot in a few simple steps:

  1. Press the PUSH button and slide the front of the shoe to the desired size marked on the outside of the shoe, then release the PUSH button.
  2. Repeat for the other skate and make sure the sizes match for both skates.

MAINTENANCE

Regular maintenance enhances the safety of the equipment.

  • Remove any sharp edges created through use.

Changing the brake pad

Check the degree of wear of the brake pad often. It must be replaced if there are excessive signs of wear. To replace:

  • Remove the locking screw using an allen key.
  • Remove the worn pad.
  • Replace it with a new pad.
  • Retighten the screw.

Replacement of wheels

Replacement wheels are not supplied with this product; they must be purchased from a retailer. To replace the wheels:

  1. Use both allen keys (included in-pack) to unscrew the wheel you want to replace. Discard the old wheel.
  2. Place the new wheel back in the same location as the old wheel was, align the wheel with the hole, and insert the screw.
  3. Use both allen keys to screw the wheel back in place. Make sure the wheel is correctly tightened before using the skates.

Cleaning the bearings

The bearings ensure that the wheels rotate freely. If you feel that the wheels are turning less smoothly, clean or lubricate the bearings.

Cleaning the skates

  • Clean your skates every now and again with a soft cloth and a little water and neutral soap.
  • Use as little water as possible and do not wet the metal parts: screws, bearings, etc.
  • You can wash the insoles in the washing machine using a normal 30ºC program with detergent.
  • Dry the insoles in the air away from sources of heat. Put the insoles back, taking care that the right and left insoles go into the corresponding shoes.
